Julia Parry was born in London in 1964 and grew up in Africa – in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Ghana. Her childhood profoundly shaped her worldview and gave her an enduring love of travel.
She has a degree in English from St Andrews University, and a PGCE (Postgraduate Certification in Education) from Oxford University.
For more than twenty five years, she has worked as a secondary school English teacher, both in the U.K. and overseas. She has also worked as a documentary photographer and as a freelance writer. She splits her time between London and Madrid.
Her agent is Caroline Hardman at Hardman and Swainson Literary Agency.
